Default need help with cylinder tumbler code for 95 SL2

HELP!!!!!!! I need to know if anyone knows the numeric sequence for the ignition tumbler on a 95 SL2? The original tumbler has 7 tabs and the new one, bought from the Saturn of Whittier (CA), has 6. Is there a number sequence that has been dropped somewhere in between, in the front (looking from the key port back), or from the rear of the cylinder? This is the only thing preventing me from driving my car and this is driving me NUTS!!!
Could the 6 tab possibly be for the ION? I just called the dealer and they claim the part was changed from a 7 to 6 "just recently".
What happened to Saturn service and the custome coming first?
There are 3 other dealers at least 15+ miles away from me, and my 95 is the only car I have at this moment. Any help would be appreciated, especially if you have experience in changing out the ignition cylinder. Thank you, Merci Beaucoup, Danke, Gracias, Mille Grazi.

I believe I was wondering the same thing when I redid my ignition. I bought the cylinder, a new key and the pins. The parts guy gave me the numbering sequence of the pins so I could assemble it properly and it was obvious. It's been two years so I don't remember which pin was not there.

You should have the tumbler sequence from the old cylinder, they are all numbered. Install the new tumbles into the new cylinder starting at one end and see if when you put the key in if everything falls into place. If not then try starting at the other end. It is not like the tumblers will not come out unce they are put in. If you have the style with the brass cap over the tumbler springs don't install it until you know for sure that you have the right sequence.

Thumbs Up Re: need help with cylinder tumbler code for 95 SL2

Hey all,
Lo and behold, tha guy at the parts desk gave us the new cylindr, mated with the OLD key! What a dork! My husband took the entire mechanism to the dealer yesterday and it was, "yeah, d'oh, sorry, I thought I gave you a new key." (Yeah, this after saying that WE were stupid and not doing the job right.
Anyway, we come to find out last night that despite having the new cylinder, the car still wouldn't turn over. This morning my jusband took the starter out, I took the neighborhood bus up to Kragen and viola, it was the starter. When I started the car it was like a sweet symphony to my ears. I have a new starter, ignition lock and my air dam reflector put back on. Now all I need to do are the brakes on Sunday during the Nascar race from Pick-yer-nose.
Thanks for those that offered their help. I'm deeply appreciative and find that this is the best site to go for all things Saturn.!!!!!!!!!!!
