Default swap to manual steering rack

Hello guys.

how difficult is it to drive a saturn with a manual steering rack?

I have a power steering equipped saturn and I disconnected the power steering temporarily to see what it would feel like and it was almost impossible to turn the wheel to go around a corner at low speed.

is this what it feels like in a saturn with a manual rack?

anyone out there have a saturn with manual steering? how difficult is it to drive?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

The standard manual steering in the SL is easy enough to drive, only getting a bit heavy in parallel parking. It cannot be compared with a power steering equipped vehicle with the power assist disabled.

Manual rack is far easier then a power partially disabled power rack. That said...neither is that hard to turn at low speed. Especially after 2-3 days, you hardly notice it.

Unless there's a problem with your power rack and you already have a manual rack laying around swapping isn't worth it. Turning radius increase's, lock to lock increase's and nothing drags the engine enough for removal to give an increase (an Underdrive pulley test was done on the dyno, they got ~2.5hp increase without the serpentine belt at all).

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)
