Father-in-law replaced the front discs and calipers... and I helped. It was last done almost six years ago. The pads still had some material left, but they were getting brittle.

Also managed to reattach the air dam to the front splash shield, because I missed hearing that scraping noise whenever I go over a speed bump.

Replaced the passenger side real trailing arm. The old one completely snapped apart. Made a horrible metal on metal clunk sound when going over bumps... especially backwards. Had to cut the nut/bolt off of the bushing/knuckle end since it was no longer attached to the frame.

I was worried about the frame bolts coming out, but they did, although one bolt I could not get up to torque when tightening... it ended up spinning in the frame around 40 to 50 ft-lbs... should be good enough with locktite on it. Not sure if I will be able to get that one out if this trailing arm ever needs to be replaced again.

My check engine light has been coming off and on for a couple weeks, so I checked the codes. All of them point to the front o2 sensor, so I replaced it. $23 from amazon, I was impressed it came with some copper anti-sieze which is nice.

Monday: listened in horror as my exhaust suddenly got really loud. Just sitting at the stop sign waiting to turn, about a lock away from work (again - last time, my axle snapped about a block from work). Thought it might be the spot I just repaired with epoxy a week ago.

Made it home but about 5 miles away from home, started hearing intermittent scraping and a few miles from home, became constant as something was hanging low enough to drag.

Looked under, looks like rust between the cat and resonator. It is hanging down forward, looks like the spot where I repaired it held on for quite a while but eventually broke under the constant swaying.

Didn't have time for more than a quick peak as we were leaving to go out of town at 4:30 am next morning and haven't had time to look at it since. Hopefully the flange is in good shape and I can just put in a new resonator and pipes past that.

Lucky that I did not hit a pothole or uneven pavement as the front edge of the resonator I was pushing with my car would have caught it and tore out the whole thing from the resonator back

I parked it in the garage rather than outside. The A/C in my wife's 2008 Mazda failed and it's still at the shop. To fix it will cost more than the original purchase price of my '98 SC2 and the first round of parts I bought to make it roadworthy.

For the record, Saturns are awesome.

Isn't B12 only supposed to be added to the fuel? I've had it sitting on top of my pistons, but I'm planning on changing the oil before I run the engine.
