Default Headlight question

HI all, I have a conundrum with the headlights on my 01 SL. My low beam lights project farther than my high beams. Of course, with the headlights placed a bit farther inside than most cars, oncoming traffic flash their lights at me frequently thinking I'm driving at them with my high beams on. Has anyone else run into this?

I've seen the wrong bulbs installed before, causing the aim to be off.

the frame for the headlight housing can sometimes work itself loose, too, so having a shop aim your lights might be elucidating in either case.

Or...aim your headlights yourself. Easy to do and far far cheaper. Especially since all the shops I know of would keep the car 1-2hrs, charge you that labor time and it'd come out untouched for that kind of job.

Probably your headlights are aimed too high. I actually put in a high-beam bulb in my low spot but aimed low, and I never get flashed.

The high beam bulbs can't be accidentally put in to the low spot, you need to modify the bulbs to do this - they have extra slots to prevent this.

Thanks for the answers. Never thought of the high beam bulb idea. I've got some extra bulbs to "doctor". I'll give it a try.

If you do this, be sure to test it out on a wall first.

I think the coupes have a sharp cut-off on the low-beams to prevent blinding other drivers, that the sedans and wagons do not have.

The coupes seem to shine up out the side

That would be an aftermarket modification of closing a pair of medium pizza trays in the hood. Be sure the lip of the pans are towards the ground.
