Question 2000 LW2 SES codes

New owner of a 2000 LW2 with 74K miles on it. I've sunk almost $900 into it in the 5 months I've owned it. Took it to Advance Auto Parts about 10 days ago (nearest Saturn dealer is an hour away), they got the following codes: P0727 Engine Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal, P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1), P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2), P1780 Manufacturer Contrl Transmission. Can anyone out there tell me more about what these mean?
What started this was a month long battle with a stalling problem. Car ran fine when cold, but once it was warmed up, when brought to a stop it would intermittently stall with no warning. Keeping the revs up by putting the transmission in neutral seemed to be the only to get around the problem Local garage (not dealer) finally got no reading from the crank sensor after getting the car to stall at the garage. Replacing that a week ago so far has stopped the problem, but the SES light is back on. Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated. Love the car, but it's getting old pouring money into what I expected to be reliable.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

The P0171 & P0174 codes are what I had before replacing the MAF. After replacement the codes never came back and the car now shifts normal. (Stumbling after giving the gas a good punch from a stop light went away too)

The only thing that keeps me from a %100 percent recomendation of a new MAF is the transmission code. I didn't have that.
