How big is the stereo? There are generic kits for single and 1.5 DIN. If you know how to use bondo and epoxy putty double-din will work with the metra kit. The only exception here is any double-din stereo with a pop-out screen might not clear the bezel. It's worth getting a harness adapter instead of splicing the factory wires.

It's a regular head unit it's a kenwood single CD player. I already have the wiring I just need the plastic dash piece.

I'm using the metra kit, it's bolt-on for single and 1.5 DIN and available pretty much anywhere.

Instructions are nonsensical engrish but it's kinda common sense where the screws go. Crutchfield also sells a kit. Kinda surprised your store couldn't find one, they're fairly plentiful.

I'll second Crutchfield. They're good on price and even better on quick shipping. Personally, I wouldn't try locally in stores as it's rare they have what you're looking for. Well, that's just from my experience.
I got a double-din kit by Metra for my '95. I have my radio in the bottom slot and my equalizer on the top slot. I do have to fab up a trim ring for the equalizer's "bezel" out of probably styrine since it's not quite "single DIN" size (about 25% at most smaller).

Metra's site says the Saturn install kits are L-Series, Ion, Vue & S-Series 2000-2005 only. No idea what's different between the Saturn kits & the Cavalier but officially they're incompatible.

tunedbysaturnsl - What EQ are you using? All the one's I'm able to find either look stupid or cost nearly as much as an in-dash DVD player (2-3x the cost of my H/U).

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)
