2009 Astra XR
2008 Astra XE
Default Luggish engine

Here's my problem:

Lately when i press the accelerator I can feel 2 distinct thrust, and the car feels slower now, I am wondering if it could be the spark plugs not firing properly.

my car has manual transmission
and just reached 30k km

It could be the camshaft position sensor going bad. My car was sluggish for about a week or so before the engine light came on. It felt like the power band changed (which it did because of the sensor). Search the forums for P000A or see this thread below:

Yeah most likely that is what it is... Mine was sluggish for about 10,000 miles prior to the light coming on... Onstar diagnosed it as a camshaft position sensor faulty.. took it to dealer.. Engine Warranty covered it! although parts took about a week to get there... Car is back to being zippy..

Mine runs like Poo with E10. I don't have a choice, all the gas station in the tri-county area are required to use it all levels of gas for "emission control" reasons.

Which is too bad, because alcohol doesn't produce as much "power" as pure gasoline by volume, so your fuel economy drops a little, which means more emissions out the tailpipe every km, and everything likely averages out in the end. Meanwhile, less real-estate is being used to grow -- I dunno -- food.

Well put.

That said, I really don't seem to have issues running E10. Maybe it's been so long that I forgot what it was like with ethanol-free gas, but nothing seems to be amiss. It revs freely, idles smooth and has been averaging 32.2 mpg for months.
