Question 1998 sc2 - suggestions for power?

I have a 1998 SC2. I bought it used, and I really like it.
I only have 1 problem with the car. Once I get to about 50 mph, it doesn't have much power. I would also like more power at the low end, but I realize it's a 1.9L! You can't have everything.
So, what I'd like to know... what are "safe" mods to this thing to get more power? I don't want to add nitrous, and then have it blow up, or have the dealer not want to touch it. But, if there is a safe way to squeeze a little more out of that solid little 1.9L, I'd like to know.
Thanks.

I think you will get a pretty common responce to this question. Quick ways to sqeeze hp are basically:

intake
throttle body
header
exhaust
plugs and wires

SPS webpage is a good one stop shop for all of the above. Hope this helps.

If you have a manual, just rev higher. Saturn 4 cyls are pretty **** torquey. Most people who ride in mine think it is a 6 cyl...untill we roll a 'stang and I laugh about having half the cylinders.

Hey Dreamer go with the simple bolt-ons until you decide what you are wanting out of the car. I started like most with the exhaust and intake. I have just recently purchased the header and new exhaust from SPS. I can tell the difference in the low power torque with the header an now that I have all of the components working together ITS GREAT! Probable my next mod will be the underdrive's, until my street head gets completed. Keep on doing what your doin.
