I recently bought an '05 Ion and have continuous knocking in my feet and a minor thump in my steering wheel while driving slowly and turning the wheel.
The dealership I bought the car from told me it is the intermediate shaft in the steering column, that's it's of no real issue/danger/concern, perhaps greasing it may help, but also said that this "problem" is typical of GM products that the shaft will wear a little over time and simply create this noise and feeling. Is anyone else having this problem? Any recommendations as to how to fix it? Is it of any danger in something eventually failing? Thank you! |

If it's the intermediate shaft, you will have play in it. Look for play. If it's bad, replace it.
