My 1995 SW2 Driver's Seat is getting pretty worn.
I'm figuring unless I'm really lucky any Salvage Yard Driver's Seat will be in similar condition. However, common sense tells me Passenger Seats have seen much less use. Can I use a Passenger Seat as a Driver's Seat ? The Seat Adjustments would be on the the wrong side - would that be a problem ? |

My intuition tells me that the driver's side seat would have subtle differences to account for usage (pushing pedals, turning the wheel, peering backwards), and that it could translate to differences in mounting.

Yes, it can be done. Sort of. I know because I have done it myself.
A lot of the parts that make up the seats are interchangable from side to side. When I had my 1996 SC2, I picked up an identical passenger seat in near perfect shape and along with some original parts to my drivers seat, made a really nice new drivers seat. My original drivers seat had torn fabric, broken foam and a tweaked frame. http://www.differentracing.com/forum...ead.php?t=3649

Any thoughts on what I might expect a Salvage Yard to charge ?
The one I go to charges $25 for a Rim and $10 for a Wheel Cover, to give you an idea. |

Not complicated at all. It was actually pretty easy. Quote:
No, just unbolting, unsnaping and swapping over parts. Its pretty easy. When all was said and done. The rebuilt seat had the original drivers seat track, bottom frame, spring, and trim plastics. Everything else was from the passenger seat. The yard here charges $9.99 for wheels and $4.99 for a cover I think. I've bought wheels, but no covers before. When I bought my seat, it was either $14.99 or $19.99. I cant remember exactly. But what I do remember is that it came out of a 1996 SC2 with like 30,000 miles on it. Other than the side of the car being crushed nearly to the console, it looked brand new. I even grabbed the pop up headlamp motors. Still have them in a box somewhere.

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:) |

But since Low Saturn has found everything can be swapped around with little effort, it seems a nice fresh Passenger Seat from a Saturn who's former owner had No Friends is the way to go ! ![]() Thanks ! |
