Sounds high to me. Especially if it's "no haggle."

The Pontiac dealer offered me $8,000 trade-in for mine a few months ago when it had the same mileage. It's a fully loaded 2003 ION3.

2003 ION-3 Quad Coupe
Default Re: Good price???

If you drive it and like it I'd say go for it. I paid 11K out the door for my 2003 QC3 with 28K on it. It looks like we were in the same boat, I too was driving a loaner and needed a car asap. I wanted a new car but couldn't afford it, and after looking at used Hondas, Fords, VWs and Toyotas with 70K+ on them for $9000 or more I decided to go back to Saturn. It's been a good car so far and I'm happy with my purchase.

Bushings, some do not like the way the 5 speed trans shifts,it has needed reprogramming. Others have had problems with the timing chain oiler in the early 2.2s used in the L Series and 03 ION [though no evidence of complaints in the Charts in Consumer Reports in the "engine" category which gets a "much better than average" red dot] fit and finish problems. By 29,000 miles all the bugs should have been worked out. The 2's upholstery stains even if you only spill water apparently.
Ask to take it in to the Saturn dealer nearest you and have it checked out or ask them to run it's service report using the VIN. If any of the TSBs [Technical service Bulletins] that described any problems were performed, it will be in Saturn's data base.
Trade value and sale price are two very different things. That price doesn't sound bad. Just have the car checked out.

For reference, I sold my '03 Saturn Ion 2 last Oct for $8995, which was what I was asking. It was auto, 43K miles, had every available option and a 72mo./75K mi. warranty.
