Default Looking Into Buying A Saturn

I'm a new user here. I was looking into buying a Ion and have a few questions about them.
Right now I'm driving a 2003 Toyota Echo 2-door. I 'm looking a upgraded to due to the fact that it only has two doors and I can't put much inside the car. And there isn't much power from 1.6L engine. I only have about 2,300 miles on it, this is becuase I don't drive a car much since I have a scooter.

The Ion is the last to have the plastic panels right?
I recall test driving a old SL car and thought that the palnel were a cool idea.

Does the base model come with a AM/FM radio?
I will be buying one with only auto and AC has options.

I'm thinking of going a testing one out and see how it feels compared to my Echo and then make up my mind.

I think if you go test drive a 2005 Ion, you will answer your question.
I do not know much about the Toyota Echo, i'm sure it's a fine car.
The ION and VUE's are the last of the polymer panels.
I'm currently driving the first Saturn I've ever owned, I steered 3 or 4
friend's to Saturn's, I always needed a vehicle to pull my snowmobiles and boats with. I'm very happy with my 04 ION2. Good Luck.

The Echo's a very good little people/stuff mover. It's got a smaller wrapper than the Ion, but the Ion probably doesn't have much more usable interior space.
The thing that's really good with the Ion is the fact that you can get an Ion with ABS brand new cheaper than you can get an Echo with ABS brand new.
The Ion1 does come standard with a radio, not with a CD player.
I would really recommend getting one with ABS, it's only a $400 option. Also, driving a stick isn't that hard, and it makes your car less desireable for theft, the percentage of car thieves who can drive a stick isn't that high.

Some bugs that existed with the '03 and '04 Ions have been worked out for '05. For example, the earlier versions had a smaller steering wheel which some people found difficult to adjust to. I would recommend an Ion-2 over an Ion-1 unless the price difference is just too much for you to overcome. The Ion-2 will have the CD player included.

The rear "suicide doors" on the Quad Coupes make access to the rear seat area much easier, and will allow you to fit some items through the door that other cars might not accommodate.

ABS is always a plus, and most insurance companies will give you a discount if your car has it.

honestly i would keep the toyota... you are going to take a HUGE monetary hit on trading it in with that low of a mileage on it.

Never....the Ions (which are much improved over the SLs) will live a long life, they will be the Saturn version of the never say die VW beetle...

They won't kill the ION so much as to replace it with something designed along the lines of the Opel Astra. I figure the engine and transmission combination will be pretty much carryover, too.
