Default 2004 Ion Radio Question

Does anyone know if the new cd/mp3 player in the 2004 IONS are capable of playing CD-RW's? My salesman had no idea.

well i'm gonna say yes cause if it can read a cdr with mp3s then it should read a cdrw with them... u could just wait for the new cars to arrive then go down there with a cdrw with some songs.

make sure u pick some good booty songs!

Almost all CD players can play CD-Rs, but not all can play CD-RW discs, because of the low reflectivity - the player has to be designed for them. I believe the only GM CD players designed to play CD-RWs are the MP3-capable ones.

The GM MP3 Players are compatible for CD-R but not for CD-RW. Playing a CD-RW in this player can causing skipping, jamming of the load mechanism, or ERR (error) to be displayed, or a no play condition. So only the US8 and US9 (both are capable of playing MP3's) models are capalble of playing CD-R's not CD-RW's.
This I got out of the shop manual.

I would bring a CDRW down to the dealer. I have a cd player that's not supposed to be able to play cdrs but it does. It also plays CDRWs fairly well. My DVD player is not supposed to play any burned materials, it will not play CDR's but will play CDRW's fine.

I've played countless CD-Rs, but no CD-RWs. Like everyone else said, take a disc down to the dealership. You might just have to buy one of those huge spools of 100 CD-Rs and use that.
