Default Getting Tired

I'm hoping that in about 2 weeks I'll be switching my Blizzaks for my summer tires, which are the OE Firehawks. They have a couple of thousand miles left on them and then I'll search for new sneakers. Anybody out there using the Bridgestone Potenza RE950? According to the hype, they look like a good rain tire but I want something with good wear characteristics, too.

I have switched to pirelli P400's and they are great. I belive they are 65,000 mile tires and they are superior in snow and rain.

I got a set of Yokahama Avid H4's for my 99SC2 this winter--they are quieter than the Firehawks they have a 50,000 mi. warranty and are much better than the Firestones in the wet. I'm told by the dealer who installed then that they will last at least 10-20 K longer than the firestones and were about 15.00/tire cheaper than the Firestones. They also sold Bridgestones, Pirellis, and Michelins so I think he was being pretty straight with me. Hope this helps.

I bought Firestone Firehawk SH30's for my LW2 and they're great tires (MUCH better than the Firehawk GTA's, which I had on 2 sport coupes, a '92 SC and a '98 SC2) and better than the vaunted Dunlop D60A2's (which I had on the '92 SC as a replacement for the stock tires), which are much more slippery in the rain, as well. I think they're a better all around "high performance all season" tire than any of the others in the segment. There might be better higher perfomance tires, but they'll likely be less proficient in snow, etc. You can get some good information on all of these tires on the Tirerack site ( in their owner surveys.
