Default Remote Key Fob Programing Help Please

I have a 96 SL-1 with the 3 buttom remotes. I guess their finally shot. The lock buttons work and the trunk buttons work but not the door open buttons. I have taken them apart many many times and cleaned them and they work for a while but not anymore. I have a new 4 button remote from my wifes 97 SL-2 that got totaled. I'm told this will work. Just not the alarm buttom. I can't get the car to program this one. Can anybody help me please?

Did you follow the directions in the How-To Library entry on the subject? If so, "can't get it to work" doesn't tell us much. What _does_ happen when you try it according to those directions?

I"m sorry, not familiar with the How-To-Library? Where do I access it please?

Either use the "Forum Jump" at the bottom of the page vvvvv, or go back to the Forums home page ^^^^^; either way, you'll find a link to "How-To Library". Once there, select "Search this Forum", and enter "RKE paper clip" as the search terms. Yes, that's "paper clip". Your opening post kinda implied that you tried the procedure there already.

No, I tried the procedure in the owners manual. Thanks

Ah, that procedure is only for after you've changed the battery, or wish to re-sync a fob that has already once communicated with the car. For a new fob, you need wolfman's procedure referenced above.

I will try that in the daytime when and if it ever stops raining here.
