Default Gas filler tube metal flapper gone?

Hello, everyone. My wife and I own a 07' Outlook. I was filling it up yesterday for the first time in a while and noticed as I was inserting the gas nozzle into the filler tube that there was no "traditional metal flapper" that you would normally see on most filler tubes. I have had one of those flappers on every vehicle I have ever owned. Does this Outlook not come with one? I thought it odd, as it would help keep debris out of the gas tank if one ever forgot to put their cap back on (and yes, I have done that once or twice). Could anyone who has this vehicle, please take a quick peek to see if you have one or not? Thank you, in advance, to all that reply.

My F150 for work, and my 05 Corolla don't have a flapper if i recall correctly.... my last vehicle that had it in my memory, was a 89 Plym. Voyager.

This is my first cup of coffee for the day - so maybe i am a minds foggy

Its interesting because my '06 Ion has one but my wife's 07 and my brother's 07 do not have it. Very strange.

As sorry as it's sounds, it's probably just another way for GM to cut costs. My Venture had a nice metal rear windshield wiper, my $40,000 Outlook- cheap plastic. Pretty pitiful in my opinion.

If you leave the gas cap off, the "Check Engine" light will come on almost immediately. (Leaving the gas cap off, and then needing to have the light reset at your dealer, is a non-trivial source of revenue for the service department :-).

How rusty is that nice metal rear windshield wiper looking right about now?

Most auto parts store's will do it free. Just ask them to check to see what the problem is.
I was also told that after 50 engine starts it will reset its self if the cap is tight.

Not rusty at all, as a matter of fact!! It also worked a lot better due to more tension on the rear window, and cheaper to replace, too.
