Default Bcm

I was told by the service writer last week that my BCM stored a code:U1000! He also told me that it was not possible to scan the BCM for other codes, because they would be erased after it was stored. Well, I have the old one. It died last week and I had to have it replaced. So I had it did, but I feel that I need to know what caused it to die. If more info is needed, go to this site:http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...314#post835314
Thanks,
D.J.

I am going to go out on a limb, and say that one code it threw was B3033 Security System Indicates Tamper.

When it sees this code, it cuts fuel to the engine. It is USUALLY caused by an internal glitch inside the BCM, but can also be caused by a bad passlock sensor in your ignition housing. Sorry I cant tell you something more encouraging about its failure, but they arent very good.

Thank you, Bigdaddy94sc2 for going out on a limb!

Is it still possible to read a BCM after it has stored a U1000? I want to scan it. However, I am not what scanner to use. Or if any scanner out there will read it. Would you know?

Once it is unhooked from the car, codes are lost. Sorry. It is possible to read after the u1000, but not from a universal scanner. More than likely, you will need a tech2 to pull the GM specific codes (b2xxx or B3xxx). Hope it helps!
