Default abnormal tire wear at inner shoulders

so, i checked the alignment. it's withing the range, but barely.
camber: front -1.6/-1.7 (should be -1+/-0.75); rear -1.7/-2.0 (should be -1.4+/-0.75)
toe: front 0.28 (should be under 0.30 IIRC); rear 0.21 (should be under 0.35 IIRC)
all in degrees.

would you realign with those values?

the camber is not adjustable, but aftermarkets bolts and shims are available at $8-10 a piece and it's not that hard according to the instructions.

...
fixed/replaced so far: side mirror, window trims x4, trunk floor, radiator bushing, alternator, starter, LCA x2, sway bar bushings x2, end links x2, timing chain tensioner, O2 sensor.

Default Re: abnormal tire wear at inner shoulders

GM has revised the Ion's wheel alignment specifications on the Ion at least twice (TSBs 05-03-07-007 - dated 6/7/2005 and 05-03-07-001B - dated 7/27/2005). I have attached a copy which has the revised specifications to ensure you are referencing the correct data.

thanks. not sure what jounce bumper i have, but suddenly the normal alignment turned into abnormal one. I guess i'll be getting the shims when i figure out the jounce bumper situation.

this is what i'll do. i'll add +1 degree camber to each wheel and that will put me in range for both jounce bumper types. why would that matter anyhow?
will reevaluate toe later, but it looks good now.

Your car most likely has the one-piece jounce. They revised the rear axle during the 2006 model year. One of the TSBs I referenced summarizes the changes. It basically says to use the old parts until they are exhausted. Once all the old parts are used up then the entire rear axle needs to be replaced with the newer style if it ever needs to be serviced. The newer style has the two-piece jounce.

I have two Saturns, but I am Jeep....etc person experience wise.

What is the 1-2-3 of the FE1 FE2 FE3 on that spec sheet, and what in the world is a Jounce bumper? Trying to pick up some Saturn ION ( 3-?) info before I started my own horror show thread on our new to us 2003 Ion

The jounce bumper is mounted on the top side of the coil spring to circumvent bottoming out.

The FE1/FE2/FE3 is the suspension code as shown on the RPO code sticker on the left side of the floor in the trunk. Only Red Lines came with FE3. Some Ion-3 models came with FE2. All others have FE1 suspension.

The springs/shocks/struts are FE1 (soft) >>> FE2 (firmer) >>> FE3 (firmest).

Ah, now I get it. Thanks, I rarely need to mess those, and slept since I last saw one, LOL. Always just called them a bump stop I guess (Jeep lingo).
