Welcome to SaturnFans, Iamgoat! As a new member you need to reach 15 posts before you're allowed to upload photos to the website. This rule came about to reduce a significant spamming problem in the past - and it has worked well - so don't be discouraged by it. There are many fine, helpful members here so if there's ever a need don't hesitate to ask for assistance.

One last thing: be careful to choose the correct forum area when starting a new thread. It is not unusual for members to post messages meant for an S-Series Forum to an L-Series Forum inadvertently.

I've been mistaken regarding the uploading of pictures to the SaturnFans website. The rule regarding 15 posts apparently doesn't relate to that. What you need to be mindful of is the need to resize any .jpg or .jpeg file to fit the required limitations:

for .jpg - 205.1 KB;
for .jpeg - 150KB.

We use the Paint accessory in Windows to resize photos, save them, and then upload them when the sizing is correct. If you need some guidance regarding that procedure please ask. It's not difficult at all.

Welcome aboard!

There are three S-series forums
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23

Take a gander at the "new and returning" sticky thread at the General forum, tons of good info.

I'm a big fan of Paint, too. Especially when I need to mark up a pic by circling something, adding arrows, etc. However, I do use a couple of other free tools.

When I have to crop .jpgs losslessly, I use the free jpgcrop. I think this is the link
https://jpegclub.org

I think the newer versions of MS Paint (starting with Windows 7?) actually use the jpegcrop codec based on how the crop works in paint

For resizing when I want to keep quality as high as possible, I use the free Irfanview and extensions. Gives outstanding control over pics. It includes the ability to batch-resize and sharpen pics.
