Default Canít open SL1 good safety latch

I just got a 2001 Saturn SL1. When I pop the hood latch inside it pops the hood up and I see the yellow safety latch. Is there a trick to opening it? Lol. Canít figure it out. I tried to push, pull, up down, and sideways. Any help would be much appreciated as the battery is dead.

Push the yellow tab to the right to open.
Welcome to the Forum Batchicky

Checking the battery with voltmeter? Engine off should read ~12.5 vdc.
When engine is running, alternator should push that battery voltage to ~14.5.

Especially this time of year, loose battery posts can show up as a dead battery.
Always, be sure the posts are clean of corrosion and tight. Not so tight as to strip out the threads, but tighter than just snug.

Post back if you have more troubles getting the car to start.
