Question Engine Misses. Need Suggestions

My son's '92 SL2 (with 200,000 miles) has a bad miss and severe loss of power. I have replaced the plugs and it has a new catalytic converter. I am looking for the "low hanging fruit" (i.e. easy / cheap) things to try as a "fix". The "Check Engine" light is not on.

I have not (yet) done a compression check. What suggestions would you have for things to check that could likely contribute to this problem?

Did you replace the plug wires? Or try cleaning the throttle body and EGR?

I have not replaced the plug wires, but they appear to be fine and aren't that old (less than 25,000 miles). I have not cleaned the throttle body or the EGR.

I've been doing some more diagnosing and think I have a lead. Examining the plugs that I took out, it appears as though the missfiring is in cylinders "1" and "4". It may be a coincidence, but both of these plugs are fired from the same coil.

Swap coil packs, and see what you find then.
