2003 ION-1 Sedan
Default Well, first blown turn signal

Well, my passenger side turn signal/drl finally blew while I was on a trip yesterday. Considering that's the factory bulb and it had a year and a half on it I'm not too concerned about it, and I think I'll just go to Advance before work (evening shift) and get a new bulb. However, it is that ominous passanger side bulb, so you think that I should call the dealer?

Our 03 ION3 blew the driver side turn lamp/DRL. Ended up having the whole socket replaced. I replaced the bulb and it worked for like 1 minute and then crapped out again. That's when I called the dealer and had it replaced. No biggie.

My driver's side blinker/DRL can't seem to make up its mind. It's been off and on for the past week or so. Is there some kind of short that could be causing this? The car's only 5 months old so I was kind of surprised. I might wait until I go in for my next oil change to have them look at it. I don't feel like making an appointment and driving 50 miles round trip just for that.

The heat from the lamp burned it up, so they said.

I'd suggest that you look for the 3157 NA LL

That bulb has a 4,000 hour life time for the DRL filament - most of the other bulbs that will fit (e. g., the 3457) only have about 500 hour life time.

Sylvania makes the bulb. It's especially designed for DRL applications.

I've posted another thread regarding this bulb if you want to read ad nauseum about it.

2008 VUE 2.4L

The Eurolite bulbs I installed in my ION is a 3157. Works like a charm. Maybe all these bulbs are blowing because the bulbs are 3457 equivalent, which are all higher wattage, and the wiring cannot handle that load with stability. Either try going to the dealership for the fix, or try switching your bulbs to 3157 bulbs.

There is a problem with the front signal bulbs. We have been replacing the bulb, wiring harness and installing resistors to the earlier model Ions. Most Ions built within the past few months have had the resistors installed at the factory. However, if you are out of your 36/36 warranty, look to spend about $110. for the factory replacement wiring.
