hey im going to rebuild my engine and put a clutch in my 1996 SL2. I was just wondering where i could get a nice complete rebuild kit for it, and a good replacement clutch. ive heard LUK clutches are alright, but i dont know where to get it. while in the motor i just want to replace front/rear mains, bearings, rings, valve stem seals, and gaskets. If anyone could tell me a decent kit that includes these, that would be much help. thank you for your help

The cheapest place to get LUK clutch kits is on ebay. You don't see a lot of rebuild kits for these cars. There used to be one on ebay that had all name brand parts but, I haven't seen it out there lately.

I buy the engine rebuild parts piece by piece. Some from the dealer and some from the aftermarket.

This is from Wolfman. He's semi-retired now but, those of us that remember him have a lot of respect for his advice. He certainly helped me a time or two. The advice is for a '97 but, it should apply for a '96 as well.

Actually the '00 and up pistons were a new design that was supposed to solve the oil usage problem some Saturns have. I believe Total Seal rings are available for earlier models. At least they were.
