1997 SC2
2002 SC2
Default Hello, swap questions

I've got a 97 SC2 and I bought a full swap a few months back. Ended up being a 2001+ swap (the valve covers looked almost the same but got them mixed up). So far the problem's I've ran into:

a) Had to re-work the exhaust system to fit the new manifold
b) Swapped out the intake manifold, fuel rail, and air filter/breather box.

I found that the MAP sensor and the TPS sensor are different.

Am I able to splice the harness and wire in the connectors for the 2001 MAP/TPS sensors and have my ECM properly read?

I'm looking into buying a 2002 SC2 3 door today and was thinking of just dropping the new stuff in the new car, and rebuilding the original 97 setup.

Comments? Anything else I might run into? I'm going home today after work to finish the intake swap. I originally put the older intake on the newer head and had serious vacuum leaks sucking oil all through the head.

Thanks!

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Yes, you can splice the harness for the MAP sensor.

Just swap in the TPS that fits the connector on your harness. The engine/intake manifold doesn't care which TPS it is.

You'll also need to swap the throttle cable, and I think also the fuel lines.

Other than that - pretty much plug and play.

Thanks for the reply. I found out that I had to run a new fuel line. The throttle cable worked fine (it clipped right on to the new throttle body).

Now my only thing left is that the new fuel rail does not have a fuel pressure regulator (something about going inline after 2000?) . So I am stuck again, unable to drive until I order out for an aftermarket regulator.

So far the swap has been a pain in the ass, but after hearing her start last night, this little thing is a monster. I'm running a 2001 swap in a 97 body with an aftermarket/custom exhaust system with the fuel pressure wide open until I get the new regulator. I'll have to drop some pics and a video some time of all the work me and my father put in to this thing.

Thanks!
