Default want to run hotter plugs but dont know what number to run

im trying a little experiment on my racer and want to run a hotter spark plug but i dont know if the numbers on ngk plugs go up or down to make it hotter. Or if someone would just have the number i would appreciate it

Compare sohc and dohc ngk part numbers, the digit that's off is the heat range, and dohcs are a range colder.

I think the Autolites that some like are hotter. Or is it cooler? I forget.
