Default L300 V6 Check Engine light

I have a 2002 Saturn L300 with the V6. My check engine light just came on. What type of reader do I need to read the Code.

Thanks,

The check engine indicator would need nothing more than a generic hand scanner to read the codes. As long as it isn't the 'wrench' indicator, requiring more expensive scanner/readers (~$300). Stop by Autozone or someplace that will perform a free scan, write the any code(s) down and post them for help and/or look them up in the How-to library on page 5 titled OBD II Powertrain Codes. Hopefully its nothing more than the leaking gas cap issue.

What he said. Many of us have access to the interpretation of the codes. If you can get a number, we can get an answer (or at least an educated guess).

Code read P0030. I see some posts regarding this issue. Is there one better O2 sensor than others? I see they vary in price from $20 to $85.

The reason for varying prices are the same as our world economy; Exxon/Mobil just posted world record profits in the third quarter of a billion dollars a week of pure profit(!), lowered gasolne prices never before heard of, the downturn in bank lending due to unethical financial instruments invented to gamble on the least chances of default until they did, runaway home prices until the bubble burst, whatever you want to gauge prices against. O2 sensor prices will follow, some higher because of OEM plug n' play connectors, bare bones sensors sans connectors for the DIYer to cut n' splice, Saturn overhead (aka mark-ups) costs for OEM ones, the same ones offered online at lower costs, etc.. Shop till you drop and decide what you want. One site, rockauto.com lists popular as well as generic O2 sensors with prices to match. As long as it fits buy it. Just my 2-cents................
