Attention Sky in Road & Track

The August issue of Road & Track (should be on the shelves where you are now) has a nifty little article that discusses a few GM concept cars (p. 152). The writer talks about his experiences behind the wheels of the Sky, as well as the Pontiac Solstace, new Bel Air, and Saab 9-3X. Three things in perticular in the article to note:

1. "A minimalist no-haggle sports car, the Sky is neat." Encouraging words...

2. There's a picture of Josh Thurber, 27, Lead Exterior Designer of the Sky. It makes sense that someone so young would be designing a car tailored to younger drivers (as it's probably the car he would want to drive).

3. The Solstace also had some good marks. Considering how closely related the two cars are, chances are getting better and better that we'll see the Sky in production!
. . .

Looking at the picture of Sky at an angle, so you can't see the picture-frame grill, it really looks nice. Especially that dash. It looks like something lifted off the Bridge of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E (Yes, I am a Trekkie), very clean, minimalist, with a center instrument panel that has digital guages.

Kind of wish Ion had that dash, man....

Let's just hope it doesn't use a Microsoft joystick to fire phasers.

Well, with that 180 HP turbocharged four, at least no one will have to say, "Engineering! I NEED MORE POWER!"
