Default keyles entry question

We had an 06 vue that we loved, but it met with an untimely end. We we replaced it with an 05 that didn't come with a keyless entry fob. My question is can we purchase a new fob and have keyless entry again? Were all 05's shipped with the keyless entry feature?

Probably - but check the service parts sticker - rear edge of left-hand passengers door - if you see letters AUO - the Vue was shipped with keyless entry.

Use care when obtaining new fob - certain numbers do apply - and dealer will most likely have to program to match BCM in your 05 Vue.

...
I rarely visit forum but respond to private messages (PM). PM creates email to phone & please include email address with question. Avoid using Visitor Message feature ... I almost never check those.

It would be easy to add aftermarket system.
Cheap dx $20, seems good reviews, less then 75% of what dealer would charge just for the remote, not including the programming.
I put similar into my 05, it is relatively easy if you are with simple wiring.
dx keyless

Even without RPO AUO you still may be able to have RKE (remote keyless entry).
I looked at the RKE wire schematic it looks like the system includes only remote BCM and power locks. I also looked at my parts book ( from Saturn parts department) It is showing me that the BCM part numbers for 02 and 03 are different for with AUO and without AUO, but 04,05,06 each have only one part number for all but different for each year.

I check my 06 RPO tag and AUO is not listed and I have RKE so I believe the RKE is part of package (different RPO).
I recommend go to dealer or other shop with tech2 scan tool. Ask them to check if your BCM has the option to program remote with tech2 and if they will give you an estimate to add remote if it dose.
If your there for other service they should charge you for quick check and to add remote labor should only be .5 hr..

This link should take you to the 2005 Vue owners manual:
http://www.saturn.com/content/dam/sa...ers-manual.pdf

Section 2-3 (page 69 of the pdf) is about remote keyless entry. To me, it seems to imply that all 2005 Vue's have RKE.
As supporting evidence to this, in section 2-13 (page 79 of pdf) the topic is power windows. Unlike the section on RKE, the windows section starts with the phrase, "If your vehicle has this feature..."

My guess is that all '05 Vues are equipped with RKE.
Personally, I know on my '03 that RKE was optional. I verified that my model had it through the RPO code of AUO.

Since junkyards (jy) are full of Vues with bad CVT trans, I managed to get a used clicker out of a '03 in my local JY. I took that clicker to a small town Chevy dealership. I had gone to that dealership to have a proper ignition key made. When I bought the car, it came with only one very worn key. I knew the dealership could make a "true key" from info gathered from the VIN code. While there, buying this $8 key, the dealership hooked up the Tech2 machine and programed that clicker for free. Also free, he told me my right rear ABS sensor was bad (hence why the light was on.) $8 well spent.

Get a true '05 Vue clicker and visit your GM dealer.

Wow, nice dealer.
I went to get an estimate from 2 local GM, programming they wanted their minimum charge of 1 hour labor of $120 and new remote $90, with taxes it was over $200.

I bought a GM remote from junk yard as well as a new one from ebay to try myself, found a local shop with tech 2 and they were NOT able to program it, and yes, I was watching it and they were following GM manual.

I guess it all depends on your luck. Aftermarket is fine and took me 20 minutes to wire it in, works very well.
