Every mode works, except defrost.
When I slide halfway between floor and defrost I start to feel resistance. When I try to put it all the way to defrost, it won't stay, nor does it goto defrost. Tried to manually do it, from under the dash. Didn't work. Any ideas? Its getting that time of year, where I really need it. |

Hi there,
I don't know how to do it, but it sounds like an obstruction in the selector door. Probably would require a bit of unbolting to get at it. Somebody else chime in? |

Any other suggestions, before I rip my dash apart?

Something's just blocking it from going over all the way... On my car, I had this happen when one of the spare RCA's from my stereo was sitting over on the right. I just popped the A/C panel out and with a long screwdriver pushed it out of the way. This on a 96 though.

Well, start pulling some trim then and take a look.. Not going to know until you start investigating.. I still say something is blocking it.. What else could it be?

Got it working. The mechanism for the defrost was stuck. There was black lining going around it, that was bunched up causing it to get jammed. So I ripped the lining out.
I don't know what that lining dose but its gone. Anyone have an idea what that black, "ducttape like" lining around the defrost mechanism is? |
