Default 2001 LW200 head and cracks

I have not seen much about people having head cracking problems.
I changed the spark plugs then as I was going to install the coil pack assembly I found the area above the plug filled with an. Got lucky I had the new plugs in. It seems the head has a crack from there water jacket to the outside just above the plug seat area. Sure do wonder how that happened. The leak had been sealed using radiator sealer. So I did the same. Could have been worse if the crack went into the cylinder. I have had the car over a year and put about 5,000 miles on it. Has anyone had problems with a crack in a head?
