Default Fire in Engine Compartment in 03 Ion!

After the car was parked in a dry lot for over an hour, our 2003 ION2 sedan decided to catch fire in the engine compartment (passenger side) and the blaze continued down that side until the fire department was able to put it out. Have had all recalls done. Anyone heard of this problem before??

apparently there were recalls regarding the fuel filter that could corrode and leak fuel which may start a fire.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a toasted ION before.

I am sorry that this had to happen to your car though. Best of luck with insurance and finding a suitable replacement!

I still maintain that plastic-bodied Saturns that have caught fire look like something out of the Terminator movies...
