Default TAAT mainshaft cover issue

I have a 1997 SC2 that I recently replaced the valve body. And I checked the mainshaft nut and they are nice n tight all that extra work for nothing!! but I am having a problem getting the mainshaft cover back on tight. I get it to within an inch of closing but it wont budge after that. I dont want to bend the 2 tubes so I'm not forcing it. Is there a trick to getting the mainshaft cover in place?

Hi mannishdawg. Sorry to hear of your problem.
I can't help unfortunately, but am very interested in the solution.

And it also gets your question back to the top of the page for a few minutes.
Maybe someone with intimate knowledge of all the little pitfalls can chime in and help.

Good luck.

Paul

Maybe a silly question... but is the transaxle in or out of the car?

Tubes from end cover fit into bushings inside of shafts, My best advice is to jiggle cover while gently stabbing tubes into place. Usually the cover just falls into place after fiddiling with it for a minute or so, just don't force it Saturn said that bushings could be dislodged or the pins that retain the tubes into the cover could be bent or broken if forced.
