Question No current?

Hi, I have a 05 ion 2 qc. that I picked up as salvage (storm damage) and I have had the car now 4 months no problems other then the cigerate lighter haveing no power. Nothing works when I plug something into it? Also when I got he car the horn was not working. I replaced the horn and in the middle of a very furious beep it cut out. I've check all my fuses they are all ok. Any ideas? ty.

You might have broken a piece in the steering column that makes contact with another piece to activate the horn, if it's set up like a previous car I once owned. I popped off the cover over the steering column to see it, but this was before air bags in the column, so it may be more difficult to get at, if that's the problem.

Trace the wire back from the cig lighter to .... well to however far back you can. Cut back some insulation and use a volt meter to see if you have power (remember to tape up the cut afterwards).
If you do have power, then you have a short somewhere between there and the cig lighter. If you don't, then keep tracing the wire back until you find power.

When you do have power, you can trace forward till you find the short.
Or do the easy method and splice in a bypass wire from power to the cig lighter.
Or do the really easy method, and just splice a bypass wire from the fuse to the cig lighter.
