My 2004 all stock engine minus new NGK plugs, Saturn ion 2.4 auto with 203,000 miles gets 25 mpg in the city and I speed some. This seems about average for this make and model.

I average around 30 mpg in my 05 Ion Automatic. I expected more, but cannot complain. Id say I do about 70% highway driving.

31.1... 2 weeks of driving 20 highway miles to work and back.. maybe half each way was smooth sailing the other half was stop and go.

After fill up in Kanab, UT, north bound on US89 to I70. Over the passes and across the desert where slightly over the speed limit (80) can seem going in reverse to other traffic, stopped in Fruita, CO for a refuel. Checked miles and gallons and...wait, what check that again? Yep, 39 MPG. How'd dat happen? SL1 deja vu....

Even more impressive, because as everyone knows, when you're driving north you're going uphill.

damn, my best MPG is about 28~29, but that mostly city driving, my avg is around 24 MPG, that on a 2003 ION 1 all stock auto; should I be concerned about low MPG?

^Perhaps, but some questions need to be considered.

What speed are your driving at while on the highway?
Is the air conditioner on?
Do you tend to have a "lead foot" when driving and/or tend to make jack rabbit starts after a complete stop?

A highway speed which is above what your engine can efficiently be driven at will result in decreased fuel economy. For my car, that means any speed above 68 MPH will cause increased fuel use on the highway. If the air conditioner is engaged then that can add an ~ 8-12% increase in the consumption of fuel per gallon further reducing fuel economy.

...
296,000 miles-it keeps on rolling!

Gov't's grown bigger, but a chance exists that it will be reduced. I'm cautiously hopeful.

24MPG City and 32MPG Highway (AC turned on) when I had my Goodyear Allegra Tires.

4 new Michelin Premier tires installed end of August.

21MPG City and 39.7MPG Highway (AC turned on) bad city mpg with new tires, great mpg on highway. Go figure.

I usually get 30 mpg + or - 1 for my normal schedule.
20 minute commute to work 50% 75 mph and 60 mph. Also add errands around town for that (but not a whole ton).

I managed 37 mpg one trip going 70 mph for about 100 mi each way.

This weekend I got 34 mpg going 75 mph on that trip.

All of the above has been summer stuff which means A/C (usually on recirculate 1-3 once the car gets cooled down).

I can't edit my own posts yet. The highway mpg was 34 for the first and 32 for the second (just went back and checked my logs).

Edit: well, I can edit this post, but not the previous one.
