Default It's been a long time.....

I guess it's been about 5 years since I posted on Saturnfans. Since then, I've married, moved to another house, and bought 2 Saturns--an 04 and later an
08 VUE. I used to be Mike99SC2. I miss the old coupe--it was my honeymoon
car. I put 100,000 miles on it with only 1 oxygen sensor and a power window switch to fail. It even had the original clutch and brake pads still on it! But the wife wanted an SUV, not a batchelors car---oh well. THe 04 VUE did about 100,000 miles and only needed 1 front wheel bearing . So far the 08 Vue has 15,000 miles with no major problems, except the low tire pressure sensors---replaced once but actually it may have been caused by my Tom Tom GPS? Its good to be back. I'll try to visit often as I once did.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Wow, it has been awhile. Good to have you back. I remember you from my "earlier" days on this site.

Glad to hear you've been a happy saturn owner for a good number of years.

Great to have you back on this site. It sure is nice to read a post from a long term Saturn owner who is a satisfied customer. I hear so much negativity about my Vue (questions such as "Why would you ever buy a Saturn, they are so (a) unreliable, (b) unattractive -these folks haven't seen my 08 XR- (c) lose value so fast, (d) etc., etc. I tell these people that they spend too much time reading Consumers Reports (which hates all things North American and loves all things foreign, regardless of the real truth), and, I point out this forum which, for the most part, contains writings from people that:
Love their Vues

I'm still here, still married, and still living in the same house, however I'm not driving Saturns now. The 08 Vue was reliable--probably the best Saturn I owned for that. I (or we--it was my wife's) drove it over 100,000 miles with no major repairs or warranty work. We drive Volvos now--they are safe and reliable so far, but not the "different kind of car" that the Saturns were. Our old Saturn dealer--Saturn of Lexington eventually became a Subaru dealer--most of the same crew are still there-especially in the service dept. I am thinking about a Subaru WRX to replace my small Volvo next time--from what I can tell, they seem to be a good philosophical and pragmatic replacement for Saturn. I'll keep you all posted. I've enjoyed reading and posting every once and awhile in the off topic and politics sites over the years. I do miss the Saturns tho.

I have had good luck with my '09 Vue Redline. Its been reliable and still runs like new. I know others with late model Vues that have been reliable as well.
The Vue actually still has good lines visually. If it is lacking, its in the seats including the Redline. They used crappy soft foam that breaks and the driver seat turns into a toilet seat. But other than that, little to complain about...especially now that GM backs the transmission which they finally did after being pressured.

Welcome back Mike. I have been on this forum a long time as well. Previous car was an '01 Red SC2 3 door 5spd coupe. I have owned all kinds of high end cars and I still loved that little coupe. A deer took it out driving at night on the highway. Car was so low it flipped up over the windshield and totaled the car. I decided to go with the Vue for more cargo capacity.
