Default broken starter wire

I recently replaced my starter on my l300. Either due to my negligence or poor condition of the ring term on the smaller starter wire the connection has broke.

Does anyone know where this wire originates or the direction of travel, i wanted to butt splice a new wire and ring term on but the space around the starter is very limited.

The larger wire i believe travels between the starter and alternator. the condition of this wire is fine.

Thanks in advance.

Most starter wiring consists of three to the starter; one large gauge battery cable, one medium gauge fusible link wire running between the connection with the large battery cable and alternator post, and the smaller gauge purple wire. The small gauge wire is the START signal from the ignition switch. You'll notice that it starts out as a yellow wire but turns purple from the Park/Neutral safety switch. A butt splice with another length of any color wire with the same lug/spade terminal will do as long as this extension is the same gauge or the next size larger.

Look for this on the transmission and you should find a purple wire among the connectors.
