Default 99 SW2--Seat or Cushion Replacement?

Oh my aching back! I love this car, but trips over 20 minutes are killers. I think that the previous owner must've weighed in at 250+, as the cushion has been reduced to cardboard.

Anyway, in perusing many posts here, I've seen that $50 has been cited several times as the cost of that part from Saturn, but when I called today, they quoted $175.38. Can anyone confirm this or another price? At ~175, I'm inclined to put in a Corbeau Sport Seat

thx,

bdog

You should be able to find a replacement seat from your nearby junkyard.

Or check www.car-part.com for a replacement seat.

why would I want to buy another old seat? If it was a newer car, perhaps...

It may be more cost effective to buy a replacement seat versus re-upholstering your current seat.

You can buy replacement seats from the yard, as I stated; for inexpensive. They are only held in by 4 bolts on the floor.

I'm with you man. I love the car, but damn the seat is killer on my lower back. I figured it was the design, now I need to sit-test other SL cars to see of mine is flat from previous "excess load testing".

Have you tried fiddling with the lumbar support and seat-bottom height adjustments?

yes, but it only gives minor or temporary relief. The funny thing is that I started looking into an "upgrade," such as a VW Jetta Wagon, but that would cost well over ten grand for something mechanically better than what I already have, so buying a new seat for a few hundred is actually a cheaper way to go for me. Also, it's difficult or near impossible to find a wagon that gets the gas mileage that I'm getting from this 10-year old car...again, without spending beau coup bucks!
