1998 SC1
Default 98 SC1 Manual Transmission trouble

I have just finished putting this motor in, and after all of the headaches of the high idling, and different obd2 codes, it finally is working properly. Well, except 4 the fact that now the transmission doesnt want to get into gear. I had the car jacked up in the air, and it would shift gears perfectly fine, but as soon as I put the car back down on the floor, it refuses to get into any gears at all.. Can someone please help me out

Another question. Could a lack of transmission fluid prevent the transmission from engaging the gears? Being that it gets into gears easily when in the air, but refuses to engage when on the ground on all fours. Reason 4 asking. (I know im stupid for this) I put the motor back on, and didnt put any tranny fluid in. And the trans is empty.. Not even a drop of fluid on the dipstick.. Please let me know Master Mechanic. Thanks

Well I would get some fluid in there. Does it shift with the engine off?
...
There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action.

Get some fluid where?? Inside the transmission.. Because at first, I 4got to put transmission fluid in there, and I just put about a 2 quarts of oil in there, and it still doesnt want to shift. It must be something else. I checked to see if the slave cylinder ball was properly sitting in the throwout bearing spot, and it is, so what should I do??

Let's stick to the tranny stuff in this thread, and focus on the clutch in the other one.

PLEASE tell us that by "oil", you really mean you put tranny fluid in it, and not engine oil or that old school gear oil. This wouldn't keep it from shifting, but you def'ly don't want to leave the wrong fluid in it.
