Check the Fluids and make sure they are full. Brakes may be rusty, so move slowly at first.

Fuel may become stale, increasing starting time until the engine sputters to life. Fill the tank as soon as the car runs. The battery may be completely dead and not rechargeable, requiring either a boost or new battery. Once the engine fires up, the alternator takes over and tries to charge a dead battery, straining it. Oil may need to be changed. The serpentine belt may have set and delaminate at any time from dry rot. Cars like being used and not sit on the street, lawn or driveway. Tires may develop a flat spot from sitting a long time and dry rot, cracking sidewalls are hints. As mentioned, test brakes with small movement before driving away since rotors rust in place and need the initial brake application to scrape away surface rust. If severe, new rotors and pads are needed along with brake fluid replacement.

1) Check all the fluids and the tire pressure

2) Use quality jumper cables or you may be stuck for a while.

3) When you get a full tank of gas, use some fuel system cleaner.

4) Do not go on any long drives for the first week or so. Short term drives should easily be able to show what needs attention.

5) Check the history and catch up on maintenance. The oil change will be automatic, but you may need other services as well.

Good luck!
