Pulling the 99 and have a 98 donor with lower miles to swap. Can I leave the tranny in and pull the 99 out the top for easiest job? Or should i pull motor and trans together? 99 auto isin good shape. TY.......

Exhaust is different, otherwise the swap should be straightforward. Engine can come out by itself, or with the trans. Which is easier is a matter of opinion (which sometimes varies on whether it's an auto or manual).

If the 99 has AIR injection you will have an issue with that.

If they're both automatic, leave the transmissions in place: there is plenty of clearance, and it's obviously easier/faster. I've heard that with manuals, it's more difficult to leave the transmission in place, and as such, most people recommend pulling the manual transmission with the engine (but I don't have any first hand experience with manuals).

How do i get around the air injection. Don't suppose i can cap it off????? Doesn't look like there's tooooo much volume in the injection.

The 98 has a manual tran and it's already pulled. I have to take the flex plate off but other than that i should be good to go. I'm itching to get this project finished so i can start on my 95 swap from auto to manual......

Are you putting the 99 into a 98 or the other way around?

You will have to keep the 99 PCM and if the 99 engine has air injection there is no easy way to shift it over to the 98. So, the first question is this: Does the 99 engine have the AIR system?
The exhaust head pipe has to be changed to a 98 to fit the 98 manifold. |

What makes the 99 pcm special? Shouldn't any odb2 work?

The PCM is generally body specific. Transmission, SDM and cluster are the big ones.
So, does the 99 have the AIR system? |
