Default Keeping the Astra too LOL

1rst I wasn't gonna start a thread but you can't reply to ones here past a certain amount of days. Oh Well

Curiosity kills the cat Man oh man.

This is a shocker for some though it's actually quite typical. My girl mentioned to me the other day that she wishes that the Saturn was the 4dr. Ease of getting her nieces, nephews, and students in and out, more room, V6 power, Navi, yada yada

She has a lease now but if she keeps up it'll be way over millage when she has to give it back so theres gonna come a point when she'll have to stop driving it at least for a little.

I had a bunch of time to kill last night so I went shopping for something that will fit her.

BSing with sales kid/manager about a car they had. Asked if I'd be trading in the Saturn (doesn't really matter as we can get another car and keep the Saturn without issue). So I bit and asked him what they're going for Trade In (Auction Pricing what dealers actually use not what KBB tells you).

YIKES. 9-10k with 3k miles on it. You don't want to know about a 20k mile car

Looks like I'll keep the Saturn and we'll just go get her something else here eventually. It's just so much fun anyways.

Ouch. Last I checked(month ago) kbb and nada had my 2dr 1.5k(at the time) miles astra at 14k. Im sure it went down now. Eventually im sure they would have given you more. They always try to screw ya over on a trade in, its how they make a lot of their money.
You need to know most American named cars have a low resale value to begin with. I knew going in that this was going to be a purchase that would have to be a keeper.

On the KBB site it still shows that I'm okay and the car is still worth more than I paid also. That's a RARE feeling for me. I hope these cars hold up in value of the next few years. I've always felt they were a special car, a terrific value and maybe this bears it out.

Yea however the unfortunate thing is that KBB/Edmunds don't mean jack when your trading a car in dealers use auction pricing to value trades.

I also owe less then what KBB states but in reality you not going to get that for your car and if you do they are just gonna make it up on the other end anyway.

So true... My old 2000 VW GTI VR6 has a KBB of between $4500 and $5800. Car Max offered me $3K and Saturn gave me $4700 (on paper).
