Default If Saturn was still in business....

Would the current Chevrolet Captiva's I see driving around be what the current Saturn Vue's would look like? Just curious and no specific reason for the question.

the Captiva was a Saturn Vue to start. GM had soo many parts left over they decided to rebadge it a Chevy. it also held buyers at bay until the Traks could hit the road.

Umm... The Capitva was not for sale to the General Public. Chevy built the Captiva as a Fleet Rental Vehicle ONLY because they didn't want to have any direct competition to the Chevy Equinox.

The Captiva vehicles that are on the road now are either still Fleet Rental vehicles or were bought outright by dealerships to sell as used vehicles.

my information was obtained from a good friend of mine who was a Saturn tech and now works at a rather large Fleet co.

personally i think if they should still produce the car. it fills the void between the trak and the equinox. but what do i know.

IMHO ---- They jumped the shark when they started making SUV's......

Saturn should have stayed at it's core - and made SC's SL's and SW's.......

Let everyone else make the crappy kiddie haulers.............

They had a niche market -- of loyal fans.

They might have even better "doing a Checker" - and made the exact same model for years on end.....I'm betting they would have sold.

Any 95 or later Saturn could be built today - exactly as it had been in 95 -- and passed all governmental regulations for safety and fuel mileage..... They built a car ahead of it's time.......

The Captiva Sport looked similar to the Vue, but was not the Vue of the late aughts. The European Opel on which the Captiva Sport was based was restyled for 2010.

Chevy put the Captiva (2012-15) in rental fleets and anyone who purchased one outright did so through rental agencies like Enterprise and Hertz that puts their used inventory up for sale.

The strategy helped grow Equinox retail sales and increase its ATP overall.

If they were still in business whatever they put out would just be a rebadge of some other thing in their portfolio. The era of Saturn being original ended the moment GM got actively involved circa 2000.

I don't see a place for Saturn in GM's new automotive order.

Chevy = volume
Buick/GMC = upgrade
Cadillac = premium

I still think GM should shrink to two brands, either Chevy/Buick-GMC or Chevy/Cadillac.

Scion is the latest casualty of a market weeding out all its expendable brands. All of Scion's offerings will be badged as Toyotas in 2017. The tC is probably a goner with the current generation.

that is correct. captiva (2012 thu 2015) was sold only to fleet. same with chevy caprice (2011 thru current) , chevy impala limited (2014 thu current)..

If Saturn was still around, they would still be rebadged Opel's.

The Vue, Torrent and Equinox are ALL built on the GM "Theta" Platform, so under the skin they are the same vehicle. The Saturn was the first of this family with the others coming later on, but mechanically they are very similar.

The Captiva being sold is a rebadged facelifted 08 VUE, that's all it is.
