I've got an 06 Vue, and that stupid grocery bag thing rattles like crazy, has anybody ever removed it, or knows how to fix it? The thing gets on my very last nerve.

I've no intention to be mean or cutting, but when my 05 Vue rattles, I turn up the radio, or ask the missus a question. Any and all rattles are instantly masked.
But if its really driving you crazy, why not obtain some thin foam padding - similar to what is used as air conditioning filter material - or perhaps a soiled towel - and strategically place to separate the plastic pieces. Do you still have a 98 S10 SS? If so, have you done anything special to it? |

Use foam and stick it to the carrier in strategic spots. I did this to mine when I first bought it and have had no rattle there since. I agree with you though, the rattling is annoying!

Ah ok got it, they sell like a foam adhesive strip that they use for like camper shells, to set on bed rails, I'll try some of that.

Mine has been a rattly POS for a long time. Then again, I have a sub directly underneath it that is most likely hitting into it. I built a little panel out of MDF to replace it, but it ended up bowing in from having stuff put on it, I only used 1/2" MDF was likely the issue.
I tried the foam. Didn't really help. I deadened the bottom of it, that helped some. The biggest problem is that the Vue's rear cargo area is unique, the torrent and equinox don't have those little cubby holes, and the rear floor is slightly different as such. So using the panels from them which do not have the grocery bag holder thing requires you to swap the entire rear floor paneling at minimum, and you might even have to swap the sides. Not worth it IMO. |

I have a 05 Vue and have no rattles in this area but then maybe because I have my tennis bag on top of it and the weight keeps it silent. Don't know for sure but that is the only thing I can come up with as to why no rattles.

If I remember right, you can just pop the arms off and remove them. Then add a little foam weatherstripping tape along the frame and you'll be all set. Or, if you want to keep it (never used mine once in 4 years), add more foam tape.

I put some extra floor mats on the panel. Don't hear anything from the tray anymore.
I tried to use the tray once. What a completely useless function. Saturn should have used the money they spent on the tray for extra sound deadening in the rear.

I've given though to the idea of getting a decent carpet mat for back there, but I'd want it to be nice and have something having to do with the Redline edition being on it. And I'd probably want it in black. And then I'd need to dye my current carpet black (again, something I should have done some time ago, maybe i'll do that next week)

I don't get to much of a chance to work on this, for it's my wifes, I bought it for her on my birthday,(something's wrong with this picture), but I'm going to figure something out.
When ever we go some place,I ask her "why don't you fix that dadgum rattle,it's driving me nuts, what does she do? turns up the stereo, and tells me she don't hear a thing. But yeah, it will, .... it'll get fixed, I'm taking all the information, somethings gotta work.
