Default Automatic Transmission Cooler

I recall someone posting instructions on how to bypass the tranny cooler due to the high frequency of transmission failures as a result of the tranny fluid mixing with the coolant. for the life of me I can't find that post. does anyone recall this posting or I imagining things.

You're definitely not imagining things. I did some searching using both the Google Custom Search and the Advanced Forum Search features. I did better with the latter search feature in this instance. However, the best thing that I could come up with was that AstraFasta had found a website which discussed the installation of an add-on transmission oil cooler. Unfortunately, the webiste linked on his post is not good any longer.

http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...mission+cooler post #4 has the unusable link

In at least three threads he has mentioned the need to install an add-on transmission cooler and has apparently done so himself, but no instructions were found which discussed the installation of one. It seems like AstraFasta is the one you want to contact to find more information about this.

Unfortunately that huge AstraOwnersClub site is closed but doing a search here might help you (or you might need to find a more recent archive)

The transmission shop replaced both the transmission and installed a separate oil cooler circuit. They said the oil cooler was cheap and easy to do

Not having much luck finding any instructions on the suggested sites. Any chance that you can post a few photos of the cooler so I can get an idea of what needs to be done.

A picture will certainly help in getting an idea as to where one might locate the cooler. Since these items are not application specific (the difference is only in the size of the cooler and adapters required [parts kit]) there is no one specific location to use, only a specific area in which it must be placed. Installation instructions will make that clear.

Take a look at the Hayden websited and you can find installation instructions there > https://www.haydenauto.com/featured%...s/content.aspx >hover mouse over Install Tips>click on Instruction Sheets> read them carefully.
