Roll Eyes Vue steering groan

Hello,

Has anyone have any experiences with a steering groan (when making hard turns) on the Vue four-cylinder engine, FWD Sport Package?

What was causing this horrible sound to occur, and how was it fixed?

I was driving yesterday most of the day and it occured late in the afternoon. Stared off when first only turning hard left and then, later in the day, it added turning hard right too. Of course this morning it was not to be heard.

Still made an appt for Wednesday.

Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,

When was it built, and does it happen at low speeds only?

If it's from before April or thereabouts and the sound only occurs at low speed, you'll probably find it's the strut mounts - many early units (like mine!!) had problems with this.

I don't know if this would apply to the electric steering, but I know it does to the old hydraulic steering... Turning your wheel all the way to either direction is usually not a good idea. You can turn it all the way to one side, and then let out on it a hair for sharp turns, but turning and holding it all the way to the left or right put old systems under considerable strains that can eventually lead to damage (if done habitually when hard steering).

Like I said, i'm not sure how the electric steering works w/ the VUE.

From what I understand, some of the VUEs are getting a squeaking noise coming from the "steering" area. Like mentioned above, it's apparentely a strut noise.

The Saturn engineers are working on a definite fix, and will send the appropriate repair to the service teams when they have it.

My mother-in-law's 6 cyl./AWD VUE has the squeak, and she said she notices it more in damp weather....anyone else notice that?

Definitely the front struts. They have a fix for it, just take it in. I've had it done on 2 Vue's so far. Saturn of Daytona told me they have done ton's of them.
