Question 2002 Saturn SL1 lock horn cherp doesnt work

on my ex girlfriends car, her horn works fine, the panic alarm works from her key fob, but when she locks her doors with the fob, it locks, lights flash, and the horn chirps, but it suddenly stopped working... i want to impress her and her parents by fixing it for her, i don't know much about Saturns, never worked with one, or drove one for that madder... i looked at it last night, i checked her fuses and her relays, replacing them with the ones from my blazer, and it still didn't chirp, it makes the effort too, if it were the only thing the horn did, id say its the horn itself, but it put my hand over it, and its the same for the press down horn on her steering wheel, so the horn is fine i guess, but the lock chirp makes a ugg sound instead of a nice beep... i was hoping it could get some advice...

thanks
Mitchell

Try swapping the relay for the horn for another one that's identical in the underhood fuse box, then re-test. (Pretty sure your year has a horn relay under the hood, but there are some years that do not - it is integrated into the horn itself. If there are 2 wires going into the horn itself, you should have an external relay, if you have 3 wires going to the horn, the relay is internal.)

The horn may be just getting weak if it barely makes a noise when getting momentary power for the chirp, but still does fine if the horn button is held. If that's the case, fortunately you can easily swap the horn out for an inexpensive new universal horn. Might wait to see if anyone else chimes in with ideas tho.
