^^^ I am all set when I next change my oil. I am going to use a torque wrench for the first time on an oil change too, why not?

My current oil change consisted of ~2.8 quart Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w-40 + 1 quart Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w-20 + ~7 ounce LiquiMoly mos2 + Wix 51516

Top off for this OCI will be 1 quart 5w-40 TDT then 1 quart Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5w-30, then 1 quart of Rislone Engine Treatment, then the last .2 quart of TDT I poured into the LiquiMoly can.

So the next oil change will be in 2020.

Stupid Wix filter seems to be leaking but still the burn rate is not bad at what appears to be approximately 1500 miles per quart.

^^^Good price there but I am well stocked with clearance filters like the Tough Guard that is rated 99% @ 20 microns.

If those jobber filters are the same as the MicroGard made by Wix, it is 95% @ 29 microns.

That's the beauty of installing a Fumoto valve - haven't needed a new drainplug gasket for over 300,000 miles.

How much is that?

Does it drain the same as stock?

Fumoto drain valves are around $25, if I remember correctly. They insert like a regular drain plug, but have a spring loaded lever which turns a ball valve. Have installed on multiple vehicles without experiencing any leaks or issues.

Since the threaded portion of valve is similar to the OE drain plug, I'm going to assume it drains as much oil as before. As I change my oil every 2500 or less, not really concerned with a minimal amount of oil that might remain.

I've noticed that my leak with the Dorman rubber gasket gradually tapered off.
It may be because I failed to lubricate the new gasket before installation, thus causing it to be pinched/distorted, causing leak. I get to do another oil change soon; i'll try again and monitor.

If it fails a second time... will follow jpags729 suggestion (post #17) for the Cavalier setup {Dorman 097-117 & Dorman 090-091.1; gasket, plug}.
Nylon has been my preference over the years,,,.

Will mull over the garden hose option!

I will probably change the oil in March, using a garden hose gasket. Will be performing another Chemtool flush, then fill with a combo of Delvac Super 1300 and Rislone Engine Treatment part number 100QR with FL400-S

Just a quick OCI until a quart of top off, then a Mobil 1 OCI

I changed the oil Friday. I used the garden hose washer. It does not fit in the recess of my Dorman magnetic plug, so I got the OEM plug out of storage and the washer worked like a charm. Put over 150 miles since the oil change, no leaks. Will use a fresh garden hose washer with each oil change.

Yesterday I got on my back to check the drain bolt. It was a bit loose. So, if you use a garden hose washer it would be wise to check the bolt periodically.

Good news is my consumption appears to be north of 2000 miles per quart.
