I was going to ask about your previous one, but scrolled back on this thread and saw that the other was your brothers. Glad to see some of them are still around, hope it works out well.

What question did you have about my brother's? I'm sure I could answer any questions you may have.

I have a 01 sc2 in yellow. It's definutely not a Limited Edition, but it says Edition on the back. Anyone know why that is?

It's something someone put on the car. Either a previous owner or a dealership. Saturn never "labeled" the S-Series cars. Even if they were limited or special editions. Only way to visually tell was by paint color, options or badge color.

I ended up buying the Limited Edition I went to look at yesterday. It's a little rough and need some love. But it drives well and seem mechanically sound. Just needs some cosmetic work. Clearcoat on the roof is peeling and leather has the typical 18 year old Saturn leather issues. I'll have them reupholstered at some point. But in the mean time, I'll pick up some black cloth seats at the junkyard.

Did the bumblebee's have a plaque or something on them somewhere that said what number they where in the production run? I know they had a certificate that said it but I forgot if there was something on the car itself or not.

That looks like someone at the factory just wrote that on there with a sharpie, lol. I do like it though. (I don't actually think it's sharpie, I'm assuming it was painted on with a stencil or something when it was made.)

Mike, what do you plan on doing with this car? Just curious. Just an extra to keep around and restore eventually?
I didn't think you needed any more cars

My son and I are going to restore as close to original as possible and it will be his to drive. I think the only thing that won't be exactly as original will be the seats. Will probably have them redone in black/yellow fabric rather than leather.

First task to tackle will be a leak. Pretty sure the sunroof drains are clogged. Headliner is damp and inside the trunk is wet. My guess is the seam on the spaceframe under the rear quarter panels needs to be resealed. I'm going to pull the headliner, let it dry so it can be reupholstered and clean or replace the sunroof drain hoses.

Sunroof also doesn't open. Makes a grinding noise, lifts about 1/4 inch then stops. I assume the plastic clips are broken. Haven't decided weather I'll fix this sunroof or get a junkyard one to rebuild then swap them. Regardless, when the sunroof is removed, that's when the roof will get repainted.

Are there any companies that sell remanufactured sunroofs?

I thought I read that the one guy that was doing them no longer does them. I'm thinking it was the Sunroof Doctor and they don't show any complete sunroofs for the S Series on their website. They do however have the parts to repair the 2 main issues that occur. Motor gears stripped and sunroof guide breaks.

Here's the link to the web page...

sounds like a great project. I can still remember you mentioning, "My 6 yr old son can do that"

Odd to think he is driving now. By coincidence, today is my oldest son's first day at his first job; graduated a few months ago. It is really weird, him driving off on his own to full time employment.

Jeff Weston was still doing them as of 2016. jdwz28 at yahoo dot com
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=156881

Most recent word then was that he had 15 units left back then and was going to stop doing it. Worth shooting an email over to him. I was thinking of contacting him next summer for a sunroof as well.

Every time I think I have extra money for non essentials like this, it gets allocated elsewhere, somehow.

No real question, I had just thought that the one you mentioned in the past was yours and not his. I scrolled back to see the number and realized the other one was your brothers car.

Glad you picked it up and your son will have it to drive.

As for factory colors I always thought the yellow works really well on the coupes, black top or not.

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know the model of the wheels on the Limited Edition? I know they were made by American Racing. I need to try and find one. Had a mishap a few days ago where one of the bolts that holds the caliper bracket to the knuckle came off. The caliper rotated and cracked to big holes in the barrel of the wheel.
