Question Looking for a solid SL engine cradle in MN

My 02 SL1 with 57k miles on it has concentrated serious rust on the drivers side of the cradle. Needs replacing. Anyone know of or have a solid cradle? A local shop has been thru the carpart.com list and they are coming up rusted or non existant. Thanks

It's http://www.car-part.com and there's 3 pages worth of engine cradles in MN alone.
'94-'02 are interchangeable, model doesn't matter. Transmission doesn't matter. Earlier years have a lower radiator mount location and IIRC something funky about the transmission mounts.

7 listed for $125, given an "A" part grade but no pictures

8 listed for $65 also with an "A" grade but still no pictures
Dean's Auto Parts
12742 Evergreen Drive S.
Baxter, MN 56425

No idea how far those are from you, I picked the first zip code for MN Google gave me to start from.

Places wont show pics, its like they would let you pay to ship something not knowing what youd get.

One is sending a guy out to look at it to see if its rusty...
They also think it would need shipped on a pallet, sound right?
I was thinking just wrap it up in paper or plastic.

I'm betting some trucking companies would want it on a pallet, and some truck lines might allow you to just stretch wrap it and tape the BOL to it. It depends upon how the seller ships it.

The last used cradle I bought in MN went into my 98 SW2 that was rear-ended in November of 2017, that subframe was coated with POR-15 and lasted 6 years in that car, and wasn't good enough to save after 6 years of use. Probably should have put a few extra coats on the bottom and a coat or two on the inside of the frame, although being MN sourced, I'm not sure it would have helped that particular unit.

Other than sending someone to take pix of the cradle, another strategy might be to take a road trip to a pick-n-pull that is south of the rust belt. You would need all the tools though.

That's what I did... I'm actually right now trying to work out with a southern connection getting subframes up here to IN

A subframe will fit in the back seat of an SL. I say, drive down to those places fetchitfido found and have a look at the subframes. If one of them looks good, put a couple of garbage bags on the back seat to fit the subframe there and drive it home.

I stumbled on one that was brought up from South Carolina and snapped it up... I'm planning on the transplant for this year.

Years ago I bought one from Mobile AL PAP just because it was already out of the junked car. Yes it fit into my SL with seats folded down. Sold it later.

There's a thread from a while back about fitting a subframe into the trunk.
