Default Ignition switch/Lock Cylinder question

Hello! this morning I noticed an electrical problem, when driving down bumpy roads, my dome light would blink on, then fade off. it would even do this when I flipped my Hi-beams on(not always, but a few times).
I noticed that this problem was very easy to duplicate by jigling my keys in the lock cylinder while driving down the road( I do not have alot of keys on my ring).

My question is, does this sound like a faulty ignition switch OR a bad lock cylinder?

Oh, the car is a 2001 sl1 automatic w/145,000 highway miles.

Thanks, these forums are great!

Default Re: Ignition switch/Lock Cylinder question

when I got home tonight, I took the covers off of the steering column to try to figure this out.
What I've found is if I bang on the knee panel beneath the steering column, I could duplicate the problem, If I pull with moderate force on the wiring, I could duplicate the problem. If I wiggle the keys in the ignition I could very easily duplicate the problem, whether the car was running, or not( acc, run)
The dome light even blinked on momentarily when I turned on my headlamps.
Again, is this indicative of a bad switch or cylinder, or both? Anybody? Hello?

Rick
